Our Story
House of Salaf began with a simple intention: raising our children upon authentic knowledge. As Muslim parents, we wanted our kids to grow up learning about Allaah, the Prophets, and the foundations of their faith from sources grounded upon the Quran and Sunnah with the understanding of the Salaf. But when we searched for children's books that met that standard, we quickly realized how few options were out there.
That search led us to Al Huroof, a UK based publisher producing beautiful, authentic Islamic children's books. We connected with them, became their exclusive US print and distribution partner, and began building what would become House of Salaf. From there, we partnered with other trusted publishers including Ilm Books, Tarbawee, and Umm Layaan, each carefully selected for their commitment to authentic content and quality.
What started as a small collection of children's books has grown into something much bigger. Today House of Salaf offers over 80 titles across Tawheed, Aqeedah, the Prophets, the Five Pillars, Quran learning, Islamic manners, and more, serving families, educators, and homeschoolers across the country.
Why We Are Called House of Salaf
Our name carries our intention. The Salaf are the righteous predecessors, the earliest generations of this ummah whom the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam praised as the best of people: his Companions and those who followed them upon goodness. They are honored above all for one thing, that they followed the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam most closely and understood the religion as he taught it, without addition or distortion.
To us, House of Salaf means a home built upon that same way: the Quran and the Sunnah, understood as the righteous Salaf understood them, and foremost upon the example of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam himself. It is the standard we hold every book and every product to, and the legacy we hope to leave with our own children first.
Beyond Books
As we grew, so did our vision. We came to see that nurturing faith in the home goes beyond what sits on the bookshelf. So we expanded into products that bring Islamic reminders into everyday life: custom canvas signs, made to order for your blessed occasions such as an Aqiqah, a Nikah, a Walimah, or the welcoming of a new baby, alongside personalized leatherette notebooks for students of knowledge, acrylic bookmarks with beautiful calligraphy, Qibla direction signs, fridge magnets, and tumblers carrying authentic phrases from the Quran and the statements of the Salaf.
We also carry natural essentials rooted in the Prophetic tradition. From pure black seed to the miswak, the natural teeth cleaning twig used for centuries, these are simple Sunan that the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam encouraged for the body and the home, and modern research continues to confirm what tradition long taught.
